Viking Yacht Current Models

Viking Yachts' Current Models are cleaner and more colorful, although most owners may still opt for white. They are bigger, more powerful and much more high tech. The heart of the model lineup remains the flybridge convertible, with express models as well. Notably absent are any motoryachts, long a Viking specialty. But new models of enclosed flybridge cruisers and express models with hard enclosures have been introduced.

Express Models

Viking continues to produce their "Open Yacht" model line of Express Sportfisherman. These are larger than past models, and significantly more powerful. Interiors are the same high Viking quality as their Convertible models.

Flybridge Models

The Flybridge Convertible continues to be the heart of the Viking line. Only two of the earlier models were continued beyond the early 2000s. The entire Convertible line was refreshed starting in 2002/2003. Now it looks like 2008/2009 may be the beginning of another model line revamp, with several new models being introduced. These models are sleeker, cleaner more luxurious and more powerful. They are also larger as well as smaller.

The 50 Convertible was introduced for 2008. An earlier 50 Convertible ended production in 2002, replaced by the 52 Convertible, but this 50 is a different boat, which could now replace the 52 Convertible. The deckhouse is wrapped in a black mask of cabin windows and painted solid cabin front. Inside are 3 Staterooms, similar in design to the novel arrangement on the 45, but with more space to execute the concept. Still only one stateroom offers a double bed. Enclosed Bridge Models

Viking Yachts has made Enclosed Flybridge versions of their Convertibles since 1995. They continue to grow in popularity. Now Viking has formally created a model line for enclosed models. These are selected Convertible models with fully enclosed, climate-controlled flybridges. They have hard tops and permanent, tinted glass windows with wipers and washers. The helm is moved fully forward on the centerline to maximize visibility and create a large social space with ample seating on the bridge.

56 Enclosed Bridge

The 56 Enclosed Bridge was introduced in 2007. It is the smallest vessel the Enclosed Bridge design is offered on. Still, only minor concessions are made to size. The captain's chair is still on the centerline, but there is only one companion pedestal chair. The lounge seating on the bridge is a little smaller, and the cabinets are fewer. The biggest concession is the absence of an interior spiral staircase. Bridge visitors must use the external staircase. Other features are retained. Like all Enclosed Bridge models, the space is air conditioned and heated with reverse cycle cooling. The area is fully enclosed, carpeted and filled with interior seating.

60 Enclosed Bridge

The 60 Enclosed Bridge was introduced in 2008. It is just big enough to have an internal spiral staircase, which is not present on the 56 Enclosed Bridge. It is placed on the port side, more forward than on any other model. As a result this model has only a single pedestal captain's chair with an L-shaped seat on the starboard side. Lounge seating, in the aft port corner is elevated on a raised platform for improved viewing. The 60, like the 64 Enclosed Bridge, has the docking station on the starboard side.

64 Enclosed Bridge

The 64 Enclosed Bridge was introduced in 2007. Bridge seating is similar to the 68 and 74 foot models with a single captain's chair on centerline and bench seats to either side. The rest of the bridge layout is reversed relative to the larger models, with a spiral staircase from the main level on the starboard side. Lounge seating is raised for better viewing, as on the 74 Enclosed Bridge. The outdoor space aft of the enclosed bridge is also reversed with the docking station on the starboard side.

68 Enclosed Bridge

The 68 Enclosed Bridge was introduced in 2006 with the 68 Convertible. The Enclosed Bridge helms have much more room for large electronic displays than is typical on convertibles, and in the reduced light they are even easier to see. The helm also has a large "Destroyer" style steering wheel mounted vertically. Substantial windshield wipers are obvious on the three permanent windshield panels, and all contain washers. The appearance is more like a pilot-house boat or even a naval vessel. The 68 Enclosed Bridge has the same bridge layout as the 74 Enclosed Bridge, introduced the previous year.

74 Enclosed Bridge

The 74 Enclosed Bridge was introduced with the 74 Convertible in 2005. The bridge helm, overhead electronics and window frames are all black - either painted or wrapped in ultra-leather. The single centerline helm chair, is joined by bench seats for two on both sides - all in black leather. Leather lounge seating in brown or other colors, provide lots of seating, and teak cabinets complete the space. An overhead hatch can be opened for fresh air. A spiral staircase rises from the main level just behind the port bench seat. The flybridge structure has outdoor space aft of the enclosed bridge with aft-facing bench seating and ladder access from the cockpit, and docking controls.

Sport Yachts

The Viking Yachts Sport Yacht line, introduced with the 52 Sport Yacht, builds on the growing popularity of enclosed models. Viking Yachts has adapted this concept by enclosing the bridge deck on the traditional express which allows some further enhancements.

52 Sport Yacht

The 52 Sport Yacht, introduced in 2007, is the first model in the new Sport Yacht line. It adds permanent hard sides and windows to the bridge deck of the 52 Open, and is built on the hull of the 52 Convertible. Available in two versions, with a permanent rear bulkhead enclosure or an open rear with a soft curtain for traditional express usage. The Sport Yacht Open version retains the layout and seating of the 52 Open. The enclosed version turns the bridgedeck into a climate controlled saloon with larger lounge seating and two pedestal chairs at the centerline helm station. This allows the lounge seating to be removed from the lower level and the space converted to a larger second stateroom with twin single berths, without encroaching on the forward master stateroom. The Sport Yacht Open version also includes a second stateroom with bunk beds in a smaller space. The cockpit on both versions is similar to the 52 Open and retains the aft-facing mezzanine seating and engine room access.
