Post Yachts Current Models
The Post Yachts current model line, with only five models, all similar Convertible Sportfisherman, is as large as Post Yachts has ever had. It includes the largest and the smallest models ever produced in fiberglass by Post. All models include a solid front cabin surface. All engine room access is provided outside, from the cockpit. Inside, all cabinetry is wood, built in place. Corian countertops are standard. Dining tables are placed with the long edge at banquets built around two or three sides, in lieu of booth-style dinettes.
42 Convertible
The 42 Convertible was re-introduced in 1997 and provides the smallest offering available in the current model line from Post Yachts. It differs from the original 42 footer that was Post Yachts' first model in fiberglass, as it is almost a foot longer, although with the same beam, and 13,000 lbs heavier. Draft is 4 ft rather than 3 ft. Another noticeable difference is the solid cabin front on the new 42, although a solid front was an option on the early model in its later years. The hull is solid hand laid up fiberglass in the bottom, chines and sides. No coring is used in the hull sides. The interior offers two staterooms with a single head, a complete galley. The salon includes a corner dining table. Available power is twin diesels from Cummins, Volvo and Yanmar of 430-480 HP producing cruise speeds of 24-25 knots, top about 30.
47 Convertible
The 47 Convertible was added to the model line in 1997. It replaced the late model 46 which had similar dimensions, including a length of 46ft 9in. The 42 and 47 have the same beam at 15ft 9in, as have all previous models in sizes up to 47 feet. The hull is solid hand laid up fiberglass in the bottom, chines and sides. No coring is used in the hull sides. Displacement is increased 5,000 lbs according to published specs. The flybridge has been expanded in the current model for additional space. Inside, one and two stateroom arrangements are available. Available power is twin Cummins or MAN diesels of 635-680 HP.
50 Convertible
The 50 Convertible has been in production since 1989, and continues to be a favorite. All models up to that time had been built on the 15ft-9in beam. With the 50 Convertible, Post created a new hull with a 16ft-11in beam. Until 2001 the 50 Convertible remained Post Yachts' largest model. These models also differ from the smaller models with coring in the hull sides above the water line. Hull bottom and sides below the water line are solid hand-laid fiberglass. Available power is twin CAT, Detroit and MAN diesels of 800-860 HP.
53 Convertible
The 53 Convertible was introduced in 2004 in response to customer feedback and requests for a model between 50 and 56 feet. It shares the 16ft 11in beam with the 50 and 56 Convertibles. The hull is cored above the waterline. The 53 Convertible kept the low freeboard, fore and aft, introduced on the 56 Convertible. The bow and cabin front are designed at sharper angles than earlier models. The interior features three staterooms and two heads, a complete galley with corian tops and a dining table nearby. Available power is twin MAN diesels 1015-1100 HP producing about 26-37 kts.
56 Convertible
The 56 Convertible was introduced in 2001 as Post Yachts' largest model ever. It was built on the same 16ft 11in beam as the 50 Convertible - Post's largest until then. The hull is moderate deadrise and cored above the waterline. The designers lowered the sheer line on the 56. Freeboard Forward is reduced to 6ft-0in, eight inches less than the 50 - even four inches less than the 42 and 47! Freeboard Aft is also the lowest at 3ft 0in. Nice for grabbing that fish. Inside are found three staterooms and two heads. The master stateroom and private head, amidships to starboard contains a walk-around queen berth with a fore-and-aft orientation. The guest stateroom, opposite to port, includes bunk berths. And the third stateroom in the forward section, with private access to the shared hallway head, sleeps three with a double bed and a upper single berth in a V-arrangement. A large galley, on the saloon level, with under-counter refridge and freezer allows plenty of corian countertop space. The cockpit is large and accepts an optional fighting chair. Available power is twin MAN diesels of 1300 HP. Speeds are 34-39 knots.
