Ocean City, N.J.

Ocean City, N.J. is the northern-most municipality in Cape May County on the Atlantic coast. I lies about 30 miles north of the tip of Cape May, on the south side of the Great Egg Harbor Inlet, the next major inlet up the New Jersey coast.

Ocean City Municipal Pavilion

Ocean City includes almost eight miles of Atlantic Ocean beach, with a nice boardwalk on two and a half miles of that beach. Much of the beach has lifeguards and is wonderful for swimming or relaxing. The more developed areas of the boardwalk have beach stores, fast food, restaurants, and other entertainment. A small amusement area with a large ferris wheel is apparent near the boardwalk. Ocean City's beach is always ranked high among New Jersey beaches, and was voted #1 in 2009.

Ocean City Beach

Ocean City is a nicely developed area with about 15,000 permanent residents and another 100,000 summer residents and vacationers. The City is active year round. It is a family-oriented City, that was founded in 1879 by Methodist ministers. To this day the city does not allow the sale of alcoholic beverages.

Ocean City Boardwalk Amusements

Ocean City is accessible from Exit 25 on the Garden State Parkway, with the center of the city is just two miles east of the parkway. Exits 29 and 30 also lead to the northern end of Ocean City. A bridge roadway crosses the back of the inlet and leads to Atlantic City, just 20 minutes away, and other Atlantic County towns. The back-bay of Ocean City is just inside and South of the Great Egg Harbor Inlet and has many slips. The City also has a small municipal airstrip for private planes.

Ocean City Theater

Ocean City has its own 12 hole golf course on the bay. Around town there are playgrounds, a skateboard park, streets marked with bicycle lanes, and biking on parts of the boardwalk. For trailer boaters, there are three boat launch ramps in town.

The Ocean City Website is quite informative listing accomodations, dining, activities and more.
